The context, the need 📍
The CHRU de Brest has an extremely vast corpus of documentation - tens of thousands of documents - which healthcare staff regularly consult in the course of their work. Organized and stored in a traditional EDM, it was difficult for healthcare professionals to quickly and reliably find the right information at the right time within these documents. For example, when searching through a mass of medical procedures for organ transplants, it was difficult to obtain precise, synthetic and reliable answers at a moment's notice.
The approach, the solution 🛠
ILLUIN Technology therefore deployed its Search product, which provides a precise, sourced answer to any question posed in natural language by healthcare staff. Based on the latest advances in Information Retrieval and Question-Answering, the solution was deployed at the heart of a highly user-friendly mobile application.
Behind their apparent simplicity, complex pipelines of NLP/NLU and Computer Vision algorithms are used to prepare, optimize and add value to the 10,000 or so unstructured documents - sheets, medical, quality and administrative procedures, etc. - that have been indexed and whose wealth of information is now easily accessible to all staff.
