Aprovall is the European leader in third-party governance, risk management, and compliance (TPRM) with 32,000 users worldwide. The company supports organizations by securing risk assessments with third parties (craftsmen in the fields of construction, handling, pallet transport, viticulture, etc.) and simplifies the management of increasingly complex assessment processes.
Previously, document verification in Aprovall's TPRM solution required a considerable amount of time. With strong growth in the number of customers and international expansion, Aprovall has integrated several artificial intelligence engines, including ILLUIN, which automates the verification of the 5 million documents collected each year.
The actions were time-consuming and required a high degree of concentration and investment from the teams. In addition to the significant processing time involved, these actions were also a source of human error.
For one of its clients, a leader in home improvement services, Aprovall sought to automate a large part of this control and validation process to maximize data reliability, increase efficiency, and optimize customer satisfaction.
The approach, solutions and key success factors 🛠
To meet Aprovall's needs, we implemented an innovative and interpretable Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution.
We deployed our proprietary AI product, ILLUIN Automate, in SaaS mode, directly connected to Aprovall's API.
In practical terms, our data pipeline extractor automates and improves the reliability of checking and validating the compliance of civil certificates (professional, ten-year, product, etc.).
The system extracts a list of checkpoints defined during collaborative workshops with Aprovall and their clients' business teams. These extractions are based on strict business rules, orchestrated by our platform of AI models specialized in identifying key data (dates, addresses, proper names, etc.).
The use of precise business rules ensures greater confidence in extractions, as opposed to newer generative AI models that do not offer precise explanations. This approach makes it possible to automate the verification of insurance certificates (if all rules are met), reject certificates, or require human validation (if the extraction is uncertain or the checkpoint is less critical).
Key factors for the project's success:
- Communication, synchronization, and monitoring of actions between the three stakeholders: Aprovall, its client, and ILLUIN Technology.
- Iterations to relax and adapt certain business rules deemed too strict, thereby ensuring data quality and reliability (correct third-party identity, associated product, exact guarantee amount, etc.).
- Change management: adoption and training in the process and new work organization for employees: HITL (Human in The Loop), with human intervention at the end of the chain in the certificate validation cycle, teams can be notified of a manual action to be performed in certain cases.
