In 2019, Randstad aims to pre-select 30,000 candidates with its intelligent chatbot
After a year of testing, Randstad deploys its recruitment chatbot nationwide:
• Randy recruits in 28 lines of work, including 5 in health, with a long-term objective of 40
• While testing, Randy exchanged more than 400,000 messages with 30,000 people,
• The discussions with the candidates last for 23 minutes in average, a time similar to in person pre-hiring interviews
Randy talks with candidates to give them a new recruitment experience, fun and instantaneous, without forms or CVs. Through an informal discussion, Randy is able to identify the technical and behavioral skills in 28 occupations, including five in the medical sector. By using a learning algorithm, it optimizes the job search and the match between a profile and a position.

Where most of these tools only allow for limited requests, Randy analyzes candidates’ backgrounds and reviews their technical skills and employability.
Randy was designed in collaboration with Illuin Technology. It stands out by introducing a gamified procedure for the candidate. Available on Facebook Messenger and on the Randstad website, Randy is a new sourcing channel to reach candidates at any time, on their natural channels (computer, tablets, smartphones). It adopts the codes of these new interactive modes of communication: instantaneous, simple and transparent.
At the end of the exchange, Randy offers a scoring of the evaluated application to provide Randstad consultants with the profiles that best meet their recruitment needs. If the candidates agree, they are contacted again within 48 hours by a recruitment consultant. This allows them to focus on the most strategic dimension of their role: the interview and final evaluation of applications. This is the relevance of the “Tech&Touch” approach. The combination of chatbot and consultant allows us to provide an original and efficient application experience.
Randy brings real added value to the candidates. Through multiple choice questions and games adapted to each business, it gives them a feedback on their strengths. In particular, it analyses their behavioural skills, an increasingly decisive topic in the construction of a professional career path, and encourages them towards the relevant offers.
